It’s been a long time since I did a blog post, but I wanted to share this one-off project which is very close to my heart.
My sister’s colleague and dear friend, upper limb specialist physiotherapist Val Jones, has received life-changing injuries in a terrible car crash : you can read her story here: https://www.thestar.co.uk/news/sheffield-physiotherapist-who-spent-career-helping-patients-is-left-paralysed-after-horror-crash-5288119
This selfless NHS physio has a fundraiser going and along with many of her former patients and colleagues, I wanted to do something to help her as her advice was invaluable when I broke my shoulder 2 years ago. As a Reiki master, I’ve been introducing her to the gentle healing power of Reiki and she really enjoys her sessions: “Every time I have one, something new and positive happens!” she enthuses when we discuss it. So Reiki had to come into the challenge somewhere…
Probably unsurprisingly, for a long time I’ve wanted to do a walk along our breathtaking Yorkshire Coast, and Val’s fund has presented me with a very worthwhile cause to walk for. So, from May 1st to 3rd a small group of us will be walking from Staithes to Scarborough North Bay over the 3 days, offering some Reiki treatments when we reach our daily end points (Whitby, Ravenscar and Scarborough North Bay).
We are currently preparing for this challenge and beginning to raise awareness. My fellow walkers Jan, Mandy, Hazel, Claire, Kaye and Ruth (possibly plus one or two more) are practising and I for one am enjoying the extra trips to the coast to walk sections of the route in advance of the big days!
