It’s hard to believe that the Reiki Ramble is complete and that our current fundraising total for Val is around £2500, with donations still coming in! We’ve had a wonderful time walking together and enjoying our beautiful Yorkshire coastline. We’re very tired, but delighted that it’s been so successful in raising not only funds, but awareness for Val!
So… a huge Thank You to everyone we met along the way who took an interest in what we were doing, and why. The kindness of strangers was personified in particular by Audrey, Jo, Sue, Ros, John, Smithy, Ginna, Pete and Lynn, who donated on the spot. We were very grateful to Lynn and her team at the Ravenscar Tea Rooms (pictured below) for allowing us to get a brew and an ice cream after they were officially closed, and to the lady at the Watermark Café in Scarborough for her interest in our fundraising. Also to Botham’s Bakery in Whitby whose stottie sandwiches kept us going!

Thanks to our landlady Jackie at the amazing Sandsend Bay Cottages, my favourite place to stay at the coast, for allowing us to have several different guests staying over different nights for the Reiki Ramble, and for the usual stunning accommodation. Even the washing line has a view!!

We’d like to thank our fabulous support team, without whom we couldn’t have made it happen: Mandy and Luci, our publicity gurus and great friends, who have helped to spread the word further than we could have dreamed, Christine, who planned to offer Reiki with us at Scarborough which was sadly scuppered by the atrocious weather, but we still appreciate her support and great ideas, and John and Sally (below), our willing chauffeurs and in Sally’s case, the sandwich supplier!!

A heartfelt thanks to the friends who have walked for Val and been so supportive and stalwart in the various weather conditions; Jan who walked the entire 32 miles with me and Heather, Kaye, Tracie, Hazel and Claire who were brilliant on the days they accompanied us. Marley the dog deserves a mention too for being mistaken for a girl in his pink harness to match our “Pink Ladies” tabards!

Thanks to my sister, Ruth, for liaising with Val and her family for us, and for braving the weather along with her husband Rod for the final 3 miles of the Reiki Ramble.

A big thank you to Ilkley Chat, the Sheffield Star, the Scarborough News and BBC Radio Sheffield for giving the Reiki Ramble publicity and raising awareness for Val.
Thanks to Robert, Lynn, Ang, Mandy , Paul and John for accompanying me on practice walks along parts of the route.
Finally, a massive THANK YOU to all of you who have donated or shared the link, made every mile of our our Reiki Ramble worthwhile, and helped to bring Val’s dream of returning home a little closer. You’re awesome 🥰
